Are you following me on Twitter?

February 8, 2009 by themacwizard

Recently I have just gone crazy with twitter. The reason being I went from following 68 people to following 1894 within a couple of hours… I want to become more of a member of this social network and I found that I am already connecting to more people over twitter than ever before! You are probably wondering how I can stay in control of all this activity on twitter? Well thanks to tweetdecks it is possible. Tweetdecks is great because it separates all your direct messages, @replys and everyone’s tweets in three different columns. I really think it is a great app and even if you don’t want to use that view of course it does give you the option of putting it into one column. I was using twhirl before which was good but does not even come close to how great tweetdecks is. I now try to follow everyone who follows me on twitter and am trying to set up an auto follow to make my life easier. Twitter is one of the most amazing things currently going on the web and if your not already a member of it become one! So be sure to follow me on twitter at twitter.com/themacwizard

How to Turn Your Old Mac (G4) Into a Web Server

November 25, 2008 by themacwizard

I was talking to one of my friends on Skype yesterday called Dylan also known as teeangle and he wanted to make the most out of his old power mac so he found this awesome tutorial on how to host your website of a mac! This will only work on a mac with a G4 Processor, as far as I know…

Mac OS X is a Unix-like, open source operating system developed by Appld and built on FreeBSD. This means that Mac users have access to free built-in server applications, like the Apache web server. With Apache and the DynDNS service, you can turn your Mac into a powerful web server. Anyone will be able to access the website stored on your Mac!

The best part is that you can host a website on your Mac for free. There are no hosting fees to pay, and your website will be available any time your Mac is turned on and connected to the Internet. But it is not recommended for a website with a lot of traffic!

What You Need:
Mac OS 10.3 or later
Dynamic DNS Account (Free, DynDNS)
DynDNS Updater for Mac (Free, Download.com)

No More Apple Products Updates Till 2009

November 4, 2008 by themacwizard

The next major Apple event is Macworld San Francisco which will be held in early January 2009.Apple announced to Macworld that there will be no more product releases until next year in 2009.

“Our holiday line-up is set,” Apple spokesman Bill Evans told Macworld.

This statement said that there will be no more updates on the iMac or Mac Mini till January! So if you are thinking about purchasing a mac now I suggest you hold off till next year due to the new products could be the same price but with a hell lot more power! Hopefully Apple should start having discounts on some of their products towards Christmas so maybe its not a bad time to purchase a new iPod due to the iPod’s will not be getting updated for quite a while. But of course it is your choice, just my suggestion.

The next major Apple event is Macworld San Francisco which will be held in early January 2009. Hopefully we will be seeing a iMac Update and a Mac Mini Update ( Unless apple get rid of the Mac Mini and replace it with something else that will be better than it). I will be hopefully getting the updated Mac Mini ( Or replacement of it ) for my Birthday in February! Cant Wait!
